Lexicon is one of 2 emcees in the hip hop group, Sinistah Circle. This 24 year old emcee was raised in Queens, New York City. Brought up in an innercity environment, Lexicon is driven by his political flare to make changes in his community. This message is represented within his music. He is currently working on finishing up his solo debut which he plans to release independently in 2005, through his own label Minority Rules Entertainment. You can hear more from this artist on the Sinistah Circle page at Soundclick.com.

Why this name?
The name Lex stemmed from my real name Alex, everybody used to call me that (they still do). I just added on the name Icon and put them together. It works out well because a Lexicon is a list words with meaning and my main objective as a lyricist is to put out words with meaning behind them.
Do you play live?
I just performed this past week. It was a lot of fun for me cause it had been a while since my last performance. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. I love to perform, I'm looking to get active in the Open Mic and show scence this summer.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has a positive and negative impact on the music industry. On one hand it is one of the best ways to market yourself to the worldwide community. The internet allows you to introduce yourself to a crowd that you may have otherwise never came into contact with. It also is an extremely helpful tool for independent artists. The internet is loaded with resources. On the other hand, once your music is posted on the web, many people look to download and refuse to buy your product. You also do not want to be known as an internet act if you wish to have success in the music industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I definitely would. Of course a lawyer would have to approve it and explain any stipulations in the contract, but if everything added up right I definitely would. Being independent is great, but with limited funds, it can be difficult to go far. My goal is to reach as many people with my words as possible and I will do what it takes to get there.
Your influences?
Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Pun, The Roots, Tupac Shakur, Common, MosDef, Kool G. Rap, Tragedy, Cypress Hill, KRS One, Gangstarr, there are really too many too list.
Favorite spot?
NYC. There is no other place on the globe like it. This is my stomping grounds. I grew up here and will probably die here. There's no place like home.
