Who is the THC society? What is the THC society?

A talented bunch of DJs, artists, MCs and poets. It is everybody who helps to make things happen from the Mud Fam to the Too Much project, from journalists to MCs, from psychedelic trance festival organisers in Glastonbury to Techno DJs in Stoke on Trent, from starving artists to Mayan philosophy experts.
It is more than a crew of producers, promoters, MCs, writers and artists. It is more than a crew. It is a combination of crews with different agendas but similar goals - create and promote expressive music and make positive changes. No screwfaces, one love.

Do you play live?
AMP and The Highjinks and Capers Society
presents... Below the Belt; 8th April, in the Electrowerkz, Angel.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives the power back to the musicians and the public and takes it away from the industry. It allows the musicians to market themselves when the industry fails to. It allows the customers to see what they're missing. It allows musicians to give their music away for free without corporate restrictions. It allows customers to hear new music without paying extortionate amounts or only hear the rubbish that record labels pay radio stations to play. Also conscious Hip-Hop and nerdcore that deals with rarely discussed subjects such as 2012, the escaton, mayan philosophy, earth ascension and spirituality now has an outlet that even bypasses Hip-Hop radio stations that might not have a market for weirder artists.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We will BE the major label...
Band History:
Alot of the integral members met in Keele University from the late '90s and through to 2002. Bonded by a love of skunk, eastern philosophy Hip-Hop and Drum and Bass things began to take off when we started Below the Belt at Keele. Below the Belt has since been successfully transplanted to London.
The THC society is about more than music, it is about making a notable difference in peoples lives. To this end we have incorporated the Too Much project which is a video project by Serious of the Mud Family which highlights the problems of homelessness, crime and drugs. THC also encompasses the Earth Ascendance movement and it's desire to bring about positive change through positive events and dance.

The THC is dedicated to the promotion of artists that you deserve to hear. Positive, concious Hip-Hop suffers most from the difference between the amount of media coverage given to talentless artists compared to the lack of media coverage given to the more talented and less compromising artists. Especially Hip-Hop that isn't American. To this end Low Life, PM Muzik, YnR, Jamino, and Tongue Tied Records all have our support. However, despite our honest bias for breakbeats, The Highjinks and Capers Society is dedicated to promoting all forms of music that deserves to be heard, as long as it's a form of uncompromised self expression. The THC Compilation CDs were born out of this passion for good music.

This is not a manifesto or a constitution. This is an inaccurate description of an undescribable group of people. The Highjinks and Capers Society is both bonded and driven by a love for music and a love for each other. As long as we continue to assist each other with that protection, that drive and that passion there really is no stopping us.

Your influences?
