Mr. Dope America...the superhero's superhero.
Tired of Top 40 hip hop coverin' old ass breaks, melodies, choruses and loops without freakin 'em? Sick of rock music being super wack, bitin' straight off of 60's and 70's groups with no heart unlike old school classic rock? Look no further for your Hip Hopped out, solid and right-on type ish that thumps in your stolen car stereo sytems. Superheroic, courageous hits from the only phenom alive that could BRANG IT!...Mr. Dope America...produced by Don Kronelios himself.
Why this name?
Cuz Black Sabbath, Schooly D and Michael McDonald were already taken...
Do you play live?
MDA has shows throughout the continental US...but mostly in Los Angeles and NYC but every once in a while he rocks MORP's and quincineras.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think mp3's help cut down on the cost of buying CD's. I think free stuff, in general...is way better than stuff that you have to pay for. Like if I was at a car store...and they had a table full of chrome rims that said..."Chrome Rims...$3,000, What A Bargain!" and there was a table next to it that said..."Chrome Rims...FREE as the days are long!"...I would go for the free ones. Free=good. Not free=bad. Buy my record.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I think major labels are super crooked...they're run by old cats that listen to Gordon Lightfoot in the shower and books-on-tape in the car. Major labels walk to the beat of a different drummer...and this drummer is usually a tone-deaf white dude with no rhythm, wearing big fat raver pants and on E. But yeah, I would sign with a major label.
Your influences?
Classic Rock, Underground Hip Hop, Cheese 80's Pop are a few genres that fuel this mega-hit machine called Mr. Dope America.
Favorite spot?
El Pueblo De La Reina De Los Angeles, CA
