You've ended up at DJ illikon's digtal enclave of loud, anti-genre music. God only knows how you got here. But now that your here, you might as well have a few clicks and check out a track.
Why this name?
I was planning on moving to New York and thought I needed something distinct. illikon, with a small "i" worked because it sounded really west coast to me. You have to keep it real, where you come from 'n all I mean.
Do you play live?
I don't have any nights here in Vancouver yet, but I used to play Climaxx in Edmonton sometimes a few years back.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it's changed it a lot, in the sense that now people are exposed to any style of music they want. They're not limited to the tastes of the radio and MTV or whatever. So there's been a lot of genre mixing going on. As for the money issue, the highest selling hard dance record of all time is peanuts. All the money's made at the door and in ticket sales, so it doesn't really affect us (electronic dance producers) I think.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe... if it was the right label. I think for the big boys my dream label has always been 12 Inch Thumpers. Ever since I was a kid. I know they may not be massively big, but they're big enough.
Band History:
No history really, just a lot of sleepless nights and good ideas. Not many people get to play parties before their legal drinking age and still play them after it (I played my first party when I was 14, I'm now 19).
Your influences?
I'd have to say Eufex is my biggest inspiration of the moment. I think he's by far the best producer of hard electronic music of our time.
Favorite spot?
Prince George, British Columbia.
Equipment used:
I used to use Reason a lot. But I've recently found myself falling in love with Fruity Loops Studio 4 Producer's Edition. I have never found a better platform for getting exactly whats in my thumping through the speakers.
