EsOterica were born over seven years ago & came together in 2003 to forge a style that is stompy with dark/melodic layering, think an industrial Tool combined with Deftones' atonal elements and you're in. They find beauty in instrumental atonal qualities; the sobering darker side of life.

Emerging from the suburbs of provincial Warlingham UK, but founded in Africa, esOterica have already enjoyed much success - recently playing the KERRANG! Tour and supporting HIM at a sold-out Hammersmith Apollo, being play-listed on commercial radio shows (XFM Rockshow, Bruce Dickinson on 6Music, Total Rock etc) and fanatical support from the hoards of fans they have picked up in the last two years of relentless groundwork.

Debut album 'The Fool' has been released...

"Every song on their John Fryer-produced album is superb, coiling majestically upwards before spitting venom." "Sweet Stuff" Rock Sound

"The new Tool discovered in Surrey, surely not?!.. The guitar melody sweeps you in from the first bar..." [8] Metal Hammer

Recorded by acclaimed producer John Fryer (NIN, HIM, Depeche Mode etc), "The Fool" is a startling statement of intent from a band so young. Melding soundscape atmospherics with incisive melodies and powerhouse guitar work, it is a dark and brooding record. Esoterica's debut video for "Life Is Lonely" was shot in Los Angeles under the direction of Wendell Scot Greene and edited by Nathan "Karma" Cox (Marilyn Manson, Korn, Soil, Linkin Park) & their video for "Don't Rely On Anyone", which was shot by Carolan Productions (Keane), aired on Kerrang and Scuzz Television.
Why this name?
Derived from the word esoteric meaning: "Intelligible only to those with special knowledge" usually associated with the occult. Esoterica meaning, all things esoteric.
Do you play live?
Of course, everywhere accross the UK & branching into Europe, special moments include most London dates and the Kerrang tour.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
See Side-Line article on somethingtolistento.com in my opinion, the power now lies with the end user, the record industry will adapt, but majors are very slow to react and are still providing no practical solutions.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, but I think we would consider licensing.
Your influences?
Tool, Kidney Thieves, Deftones, countless more...
Equipment used:
Logic, MOTU, Line6, DBX, Schecter, DW etc..
