Philistine is a post-industrial death/doom metal band with hardcore/sludge vocals. Comparable to Moss, Bunkur, Halo, and Toadliquor.
Why this name?
For multiple reasons. Goliath was a Philistine and therefore conjures an essence of crushing power. The word Philistine is now used as something/someone who is low-brow, but in reality the Philistines were advanced for their time period, and respected for their metalworking skills. They are also considered the archenemy of "God's chosen people."
Do you play live?
Not at the moment. If there was an appropriate outlet, then perhaps.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables niche elements to reach a wide audience and circumvents the restraints of bowing the revenue minded mega-labels that have a chokehld upon the music industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Bah.
Band History:
Philistine started in fall of 2003 with the intent of generating the feeling and experience of a world shaking with anger.
Your influences?
Expect slow downtuned riffs and noise. Godflesh, Khanate, Neurosis, Isis, Halo, are all major influences and are all due much respect.
Favorite spot?
Chernobyl. Humans were driven out, yet other, purer life, thrives.
Equipment used:
Access Virus B, Spectrasonics Atmosphere, various stomp boxes and multi-effects devices.
Anything else...?
Get crushed. Bow before the power of slow.
