Why this name?
It's my first and middle name. 2 other people are already using my real first and last name, but we won't mention them here
Do you play live?
We've been playing out live in Austin about 1-3 times a week lately, promoting the release of the CD, which will be on November 27th! I can't wait for the world to hear it, and apparently there's a lot of buzz being created as a result of all the incredible musicians who are on it.
(That's me with legendary Jimmie Dale Gilmore on the right)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables the artist or band to get the music directly to the people who really matter, and those are the ones who spend their hard-earned money on it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on if I'm allowed artistic freedom. I've been able to put out TWO cds without their help so far.
Your influences?
I love the flourishing Texas country music scene as it is right now. Cory Morrow, Kevin Fowler, Dale Watson, Deryl Dodd and so many others. As far as mainstream artists are concerned, Tim McGraw, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Steve Wariner, Asleep At The Wheel, Garth Brooks' earlier stuff, Keith Urban, Lee Ann Womack and Alison Krauss. I'm not really a big fan of 'fluff' country, because it should be about the music - not the package that's singing it.
Favorite spot?
It's a dead-on tie between my hometown of Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee.
Anything else...?
