Why this name?
It is actually a long story. We formed in the summer of 2003 and played under the name, "The Accidents" for a couple of months. We later found out that "The Accidents" was already a band and therefore, we changed our name to Lay Waste.
Do you play live?
We try to play live as often as possible. Nothing can compare to the rush and energy of performing on stage while a crowd rocks out to your songs. I'd just like to thank everyone who came out to the Baird Center on 3/5...you all made it an amazing night and were working our hardest to make it back there soon!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the whole mp3 thing has been blown way out of proportion. With the mp3, you have a transportable...relatively small audio file instead of a whole cd. The best part is, if your making a mix, it doesnt have to be on tape anymore. I used to dream about having a CD with my favorite songs on it...thats possible now.

I just dont think the RIAA saw it coming. Like most people, they panicked and tried to take it away as fast as possible. But the mp3 is here to stay.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We like to think that we would, but as of this point we arent sure. Major labels are nice, but when you get down to the business of it, its a snakepit waiting to eat you alive. Thankfully, we have made some contacts and have received copious amounts of advice from fellow musicians and peers with experience in the business. So as of right now, if something were to happen, we wouldnt jump in without serious legal consideration.
Band History:
Lay Waste formed in the summer of 2003. After a brief stint as a power trio, we brought our friend Sean in on Vocals. We havent looked back.
Your influences?
Metallica is a big one in all of our books. Anything and everything basically. If its good, we listen to it.
