yakamashii... a Japanese word for “noisy”.
Though Yakamashii’s music is considered noisy it’s actually soothing for some.
Formed in 1999 these four talented young Singaporean buddies started playing serious metal music when they participated in Clash Of The Bands ‘99. They came runners-up and also clinched Best Guitarist award at the same time.
Inspired by metal bands like Loudness, Malmsteen, Iron Maiden, Halloween, Dream Theater and for local bands such as Rusty Blade, XPDC, Wings, Search and other popular metal/rock bands, they tried writing their own songs. They came up with two songs and participated in “Gegaran 2000” which they came-in third. They were approached and given a chance to cut two songs for the album “Gegaran 2000” with four other local bands.
They just could not stop, eager to do more of their own composition. They composed a few more songs for their first album. In 2001 “Insomnia” was recorded in Bandung, Indonesia under producer Moliano of Lovehunters. “Insomnia” was nominated as Best New Group (Regional) and Best New Album along Sheila on 7, Raihan, Amok and Padi in the APM 2002 Awards. Their music video even got up to the third place on MTV Boom (TCS). More awards continue coming their way after that.
They released Durjana in mid 2005.
Probably in mid 2006 they will be back in the studios to record few more songs
had alot of sold out shows and gigs... finally appeared on MTV Asia ( MTV Boom ) was 3rd on the charts for weeks
