Teysha
Teysha began as simply a gathering of 3 friends that liked to write and play music together. While each of us writes prodigiously, we've found that as a gestalt, our music takes on a personality of it's own. Others joined and contributed and left to do other things but we 3 always continued to write together. After a year, we gathered some recording gear and began recording tunes just for our amusement. With a pool of over 100 compositions and prodded by our fans at our live performances, we eventually released an album in 1993 that was very well received. We continued to play locally...each simply enjoying each other's company and playing. But, job changes, marriage and touring led us down seperate paths for many years. Now, circumstances permit us to gather together again....3 friends with a simple love for music.
Why this name?
Teysha is a Caddo Indian word for "friend" and is the root of the word Tejas. We are all deeply rooted in West Texas, so it seemed natual.
Do you play live?
We aren't playing together right now, each playing with other interests at this time. However, we are still recording prodigously.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's all exposure.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yup.
Your influences?
Pat Metheny, Michael Franks, Chick Corea, Long John Hunter, David Sanborn, Larry Carlton, Michael Hedges
Favorite spot?
Any place on the Caprock in West Texas.
Anything else...?
