Why this name?
My parents chose it.
Do you play live?
Most anyone who has ever heard me play "live", has overheard me. To others my music is "ambient", not the type of music performed to entertain. I've played at one wedding & one memorial. They were special moments in themselves and I was honored to be that part of the mood if wou will. I've entertained the idea of "open mic" and coffee house ambiance, but I think I'm past that now.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I was with mp3.com since the beginning. It was my best experience with the public ever. Mp3 gave the music back to us, the people, and enabled artists to share their passions. I beleive in the end, the music industry (artists included) is more prone to release better efforts to encourage fans to want the whole package.
Band History:

In the fall of '77, my self taught passion to create music began with a borrowed Epiphone acoustic guitar, a Beatles anthology, and a talented roommate to taunt me.
In '78 I left my hometown in humid/frigid Upstate NY to discover the arid Sonoran Desert Southwest.

In May of '82 I surrendered all my worldly haves to attend The (former) School of Guitar Research & Design Center in South Strafford VT Under the guidance of Charles Fox I built my own steel string acoustic, which of course has no equal, and is the guitar I play in all recordings. The fall of '83 I recorded my studio demo tape entitled "Endure". Two songs and two instrumentals, one solo.

From the beginning it has never been about being an entertainer. Its about being a guitarist. Its about discovery. The act of creating. The feeling inside the music, and within you, when what you're creating is coming from a source that expresses the parts of you that you cannot "say". It can only be felt through the performance, the re-creation of the music.

Guitar building came out of the ability to work with my hands, and the supressed ambition to "be" a guitarist. Building with materials seemed to prove more practical than pursuing adolescent rock-n-roll phantasia. If it doesn't come naturally, leave it. Other than myself, only the kitchen walls, those closest to me, & you know of my passion to be behind the sound of an acoustic guitar.

I've been playing for nearly 30 years. I continue to create, play & improve.

Equipment used:
From a cedar top and Hiawiian Koa back & sides, I built the guitar used in all my recordings.
I use an external audio processor, RolandED UA100G, preceeded be a ProSonus Blue Tube preamp.
Mics are Sure Beta 57A.
Adobe Audition 1.5, formerly Cool Edit 2000, is the recording/editing software I enjoy for its complete production capabilities & ease of use.
Anything else...?
Artguitect is the title of my CD. The name is derived from art+guitar+tect. Tect is the Greek root for builder.
