Metu Neter = Speech Is Divine
Why this name?
I came across the name studying eastern philosophy, and it's meaning struck a chord with me. It's just Universal Law. Before that i only knew "karma" from that Boy George song.
Do you play live?
Yes, though I haven't lately. I love it. It jusy seems natural for me-I like interacting with a crowd. I won a rap battle in Florida (a "lower alabama" part of Florida) once. I consider winning a crowd over my goal. In contemporary hip-hop it can be a challenge. I definitely acheived my goal that night.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It really brings us all closer together by giving us an opportunity to explore genres of music we otherwise wouldn't know existed. Unknown artists feasably have a worldwide audience. Major label players get mad, but if these artists bothered to make good albums, people would buy them even if they could get them for free on-line. People download songs so much becuause so-called artists make good singles and their albums are trash.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, not unless some major laws change.
Your influences?
Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Stevie Wonder, Grandmaster Flash, KRS-ONE, Rakim, Lauryn Hill, DJ Premier, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, MC Lyte, Sly & The Family Stone, Common, etc.
Favorite spot?
Philadelphia, PA so far...partly because London was too foggy and Toronto was too cold.
Anything else...?
