Sex Appeal is just two guys messing around with various recording devices. Both members contribute songs, and split the instrumentation between the two of them. The styles range from pop to metal to hip hop to jazz to punk...we're all over the f***in' place.
Why this name?
The band name is sarcastic, i guess. Who knows. It probably is, because there's no sex appeal whatsoever to this band...we're hardly ever seen, and we never play shows.
Do you play live?
We have never played live. If some competent musicians were willing to learn our songs so that Matt and I could play guitar and sing live, we might do a gig or two. It's just for fun, though.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes it easier to hear music that sucks.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Eh. If we got a record offer, i'd probably be in a sweater...it'd be damn cold, because hell would have frozen over.
Band History:
Sex Appeal began as a side project for former Jesuses members Julius Seizure and Matt Motzell, but became more full-time when that band broke up. Now, it resides as a side project while both members are in the Jim Jones Catering Service. It can more or less be traced 3 years back, to the initial tapes made by the two members...but, those were really awful. We've got two cd's out...contact Julius Seizure about buying one.
Your influences?
We listen to all sorts of stuff...around the time we started Sex Appeal, we were listening to lots of Weezer and sh*** like that. Anything Mike Patton does rules, and so does Dinosaur Jr.
Favorite spot?
I don't know yet.
Equipment used:
We use whatever we have lying around...crappy Crate practice amps, miniature keyboards, broken 4-tracks...totally unprofessional.
