My name is Richard Steed, the saviour of GOOD synthpop.I'm trying to bring back good, original and melodic songwriting all done on synths. My dream is too create a revolution in the music industry where I could inspire a whole new wave of bands using synths to emerge and who can write songs as good as the likes of Burt Bacharach,Lennon/McCartney,Vince Clarke and Martin Gore etc.
I have an A level in music and have learnt every commercial songwriting trick there is!
I was mainly a massive Led Zep fan though originally(You know, the old guitar thing and that).Shortly after I was mad about guitars I got into organ music and became a massive fan of Procol Harum,Ray Manzarek(The Doors) and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones. This was shortly before I got into synthesizers when I took out the Alison Moyet essential cd back in June 2002 and got into the Yazoo stuff.
Why this name?
It's all named after me because it's all based in my musical skills.
Do you play live?
I'm working on a very ambitious, classically orientated synthesizer/multi instrumental progressive rock album structured in the same kind of way to Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells'.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps us to meet and interact with other musicians and singers. It's also a good source of information to improve one's musical skills and also by contacting other expert musos for advice to improve ones skills.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES,definitely!
Band History:
No history yet.Yet to do gigs. Given up in looking for singers, too many losers and timewasters who claim to be singers on internet and who reply from newspaper ads.
Your influences?
Mainly electronic,classical,folk and rock.
Favorite spot?
Sheffield and Lake District.
Equipment used:
A Roland Fantom X6 workstation synthesizer/keyboard/sequencer with four expansion boards:- Supreme Dance,Dynamic drums,SRX 07 Ultimate keys and SRX 09 World collection. Roland Quad-Capture USB audio interface, HP 64-bit Core i3 laptop, Nero 11 video editing software, Sony Handycam HDR-PJ10E HD camcorder, Cubase 5 music software.
Anything else...?

I've given up looking for a singer . I'm aiming towards a grade 8 in music theory and practical both in piano and classical guitar. I may then attend the royal college of music in future to further my musical expertise.
