Band History:
Construkt’s Misfits-meets-Disturbed sound is dead on the mark for what’s happening in today’s metal. Jeff Maisey, Ninevolt Magazine Apr. 22, 2003
Metal music written as though it was for an orchestra. This five-piece powerhouse believes that the show is the most important thing. A show is not the same thing that you could get if you stayed home and listened to the CD very loud. A show is a band pouring all of its energy in to the performance and the performance doesn’t end at the edge of the stage. Construkt takes the stage and does not stop moving until the end of the night. And Construkt believes the more audience participation the better. “It’s not a TV show,” says vocalist Jesse Shea. I like getting in pit with the fans, that way I can feel the energy and give some back to the masses.
Construkt follows the lineage of bands like Lamb of God, Fear Factory, Slipknot, Bile, and Marilyn Manson (tracing further back to Twisted Sister, Alice Cooper, and Kiss). All bands that played hard and you remembered the show.
Inspired by bands like the Misfits, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, KMFDM, and Megadeth, Construkt recorded their first 14-song studio demo in the spring of 2001 just because of the demand for one from the ever-growing fan base. After distributing 100’s of computer burned copies to fans and friends Construkt caught the attention of Producer Dick Hodgin. Dick (producer of bands such as Corrosion of Conformity, Jettingham, and Hootie and the Blowfish) invited the band to come record their latest 5 song ep “All that I have to give in a world that gave me nothing” for him in Raleigh North Carolina. “All that I have” features Construkt fan favorites “Nolan’s Ticket”, “Dust”, and “Who am I” plus two new songs, the hard driving fist pounding “Only because the Mask fits” and the haunting “Mental Disposition”. Brent Lambert of “The Kitchen Mastering” mastered the CD in Chapel Hill North Carolina. Brent has worked with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and The Meat Puppets. Requests for the new cd have come from as far away as England, India and Germany.
BIO
The birth of Construkt began in the late 1990’s when all five members were attending Norview High School in Norfolk Virginia. In 1997 guitarist James Suit and drummer Jason Zehr formed their own band and started playing out around the area. In a chance meeting in 1998 James met up with vocalist Jesse Shea who had just left a band and invited him to come jam with them. Jesse, who brought along the name Construkt, liked the direction the music was heading and thus the musical heart of Construkt was born. One day Adam Clous said he would like to play cello for Construkt on a slow song. Adam a friend of James’ since the 1st grade and orchestra buddy from middle school started to play shows with Construkt but only on that one song when someone mentioned that Adam learn all the songs and see how it sounds. That became the core of Construkt with several rotating bass players until 2002 when former High School buddy Donnie Murphy became the permanent Construkt bass player.
Recent shows have included:
The FM 99 Lunatic Luau at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater (sold out 20,000 people)
The 9,000 seat Old Dominion University Ted Constant Convocation Center
The Armed Services Y.M.C.A. Mud Run (1,500 people in attendance)
The East Coast Surfing Championship for 2003
