Lifend originated in 1999 from the fusion of bands Haternal and Mourningstar. The thus born union was baptized My Dark Side. The band started playing covers of Moonspell, Dimmu Borgir, Edge of Sanity and Anathema but soon got to composing the first songs. To get experience, the band started playing the new songs on music competitions (a.o. Emergenza Rock) and in local venues. First line-up change occurs in 2000 when Roberto joins the band and enriches it with his brutal/grind background. Lots of appreciated live-shows in local clubs follow as the band continues to accumulate experience. The band felt they had reached a crossroads, so the moniker had to foretell something more direct and incisive. The name Lifend was chosen. In 2001 Lifend's demo "Entwined Emotions" is completed and the live promotion gets well taken care of at various musical contests and venues around Milan and beyond. It seems as though Lifend found their way, since "Entwined Emotions" receives a lot of appraisal by the Italian and foreign press as numerous flattering reviews and some well-earned interviews show. The way we're talking about wonders through dark atmospheres and deep romanticism to the rhythm of a frantic heartbeat. Passion and dedication are a constant in Lifend's creative process yet another radical change in the band's musical viewpoint had to occur in order to give more space to its live character: the new songs become faster and more aggressive and dynamic, although remaining melodic and dramatic. Death/Gothic Metal with different influences and shades would be the right description where style is concerned, owing to the addition of acoustic guitars-parts, Swedish riffing, keys and synthesizers and the use of 3 different vocals. With this new attitude, new opportunities come up and the band finds its way to a few interesting support positions. With the release of the new mini CD "Shattering Reality", another change of line up occourred with the arrival of Andrea on lead guitar. The new material already got promoted from November 2002 to June 2003 through an Italian mini tour and by Mae Promotion, receiving also ggod reviews by italian and foreign press. In June 2003 Davide Left the band due to work problems and now the sound is still evolving...
