Okay, first, I should explain my "band." I play all the guitar parts, Mark Sawyer sings all the vocals, and I synthesize the drums using Fruity Loops 4.0. They don't sound horrible, but I wish Mike was more willing to ship his drumset around every now and then. Mark and I use Acid 4.0 to record the music and mix it all to our liking. It's a great program--you should try it out. Very easy to use.
Why this name?
It's called Super YC One-zip, which was a random collection of words found on my refrigerator one night (from a Hefty One-Zip bag, a YCHS news letter, and a Super Bowl magnet) while Mark Sawyer and I were recording "Go With the Flow."
Do you play live?
We like to play live, but mostly, we just go for the school dance gig.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I really enjoy being able to listen to very talented unsigned bands. I think mp3s have really opened doors for some people.
Personally, I just want to be heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Heck yeah. Be heard even more ;)
Your influences?
I like to think I'll someday be Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, but I'd settle for that guy nobody's heard of but plays for that cool band.
Favorite spot?
Santa Cruz--wonderful atmosphere.
