Claustraphobia have released a new demo in May 2012 called We Shall Fall - this is available for free download.
Claustraphobia is an eclectic/electronic/industrial goth music project. Nottinghamshire based. Influences range from Gary Numan, John Foxx, Nine Inch Nails, Joy Division through to some of today's techno/electro music and sound creators, plus many other industrial and metal bands. Claustraphobia has been going strong since the new millenium and has had a number of chart hits on soundclick and mp3.com (before it sold out).
Why this name?
Claustraphobia is defined as an extreme fear of confined spaces. Therefore, not wanting to be confined to one music genre, the music of Claustraphobia will cover an array of electronic styles whether it is inspired by the 80's electronic pioneers, the 90's dance scene, industrial and metal sounds or contemporary electro. By the way, the band name is misspelt on purpose (Claustraphobia instead of Claustrophobia).
Do you play live?
no plans at present
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet/mp3 gives independent bands global reach which would have been impossible before the WWW.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but would have to be a contract that allowed freedom of expression and artistic licence. On that basis, would a major label want Claustraphobia? Who cares...if you like Claustraphobia listen to it on soundclick or myspace.
Band History:
Claustraphobia came to life on mp3.com in 2000 with more than 32,000 plays in just over two years. Claustraphobia had a number of Top Ten hits on mp3.com's Industrial Electronic charts. Claustraphobia have produced 1 CD to date called "Extremities". Since joining Soundclick, Claustraphobia have had an array of number 1 tracks on Soundclick's electronic/electronica and industrial charts including 'Crawl to Me' and 'Tormented by Fire'.
Your influences?
Claustraphobia rely on mainly electronics and technology to produce their music. The music has various influences including the early synth pioneers, early industrial acts and high quality electro/dance music, goth and metal.
Favorite spot?
Berlin. Normally after dark.
