Dave Barton is a jazz guitarist and music teacher living in Kingston, Ontario. He has played with many great Canadian jazz musicians, and is also active in the club, live theatre and studio work scene in Kingston.
Why this name?
Jazz guys name their groups after themselves! It's the thing to do!
Do you play live?
I am currently playing live in clubs in the Kingston area.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet progressed to the point where it was very easy to cheat writers out of their royalties. I'm glad that recent efforts are fixing that problem. Remember, the megastars finance the new signings! This site is great for introductions and contact-making!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of Course! The chances of that happening in jazz are slim, though.
Your influences?
In the order I encountered them: Chet Atkins, John McLaughlin, Lennie Breau, Ed Bickert, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, and for composers, Kenny Wheeler and Vince Mendosa
Favorite spot?
K-Town - Kingston
