Rhyson
NEWS
After hearing a passage read in Sunday School, the minister stopped, looked at the young man and said, “God is going to take you places with that voice of yours”.
Who knew how true her words would be.
That voice belonged to Rhyson Hall. Buffalo born and raised, Rhyson is one of the most prolific emcees ever to pick up a microphone. Armed with an intense passion for poetry and a unique ability to understand and explain human emotions, Rhyson generates a palpable vibe that unifies the varied audiences that identify with his music. His polished delivery and intricate lyrics coupled with his trademark fiery voice make him an emcee that anyone in the Hip-Hop circuit or with an ear for talent would crave to hear.
Quiet throughout his life, Rhyson uses Hip-Hop to energetically express all the emotions built up inside, exploding through his stage presence and audience-friendly antics. Bringing back the old “Boom-Bap” feel of Hip-Hop’s golden era, Rhyson’s incomparable showmanship captivates listeners lyrically as well as visually.
A Psychology Major at the University at Buffalo, Rhyson is blessed with the ability to assess problems and dispense advice without the stigma of preaching. Growing up in several culturally diverse communities granted him the ability to interact with all classes and cultures on many levels. This transfers over to his writing, a very conversational rhyming style, which invites the listener to pull up a chair and get comfortable as if speaking to an old friend. Rhyson has performed all over Buffalo, from the heralded Babysteps Showcases and the Rap up The Vote performance competition, to coffee shops and poetry nights and was runner up in UB’s Fall Fest Emcee battle. Taking his talent outside of the city, Rhyson has performed throughout Western New York, Eastern Ohio and Southern Ontario.
An eclectic music fan, Rhyson’s influences include John Coltrane, Mos Def, Stain’d, Nas, Marvin Gaye and a host of other artists that came together to assist in his artistic development. As confident as they come, Rhyson says his humility is what keeps him grounded along with his supportive friends and family. Humble beginnings and a rocky childhood has molded that young man in Sunday School into a lyrical force that cements the phrase, “Rhyson Hall is the illest.”
