"The Coffinettes" are newly emerging deathrock. Composed of Michael Schofield & Danny 'Dead' Sims, they're loyalty to originality definitely create about them a watchable quality. One review stated, "[They're]a new Death Rock act that sounds as oldschool as the oldschool itself. This band sounds like they were playing a show when Rozz said 'let there be Death Rock, so there was Death Rock and it was good.'" Former members include Steve Rotter from Graveyard Bats,
Why this name?
A "coffinette" in Egyptian burial practices are the miniature sarcophogi that hold the mummies' blood, guts, hearts, brains, and other gore. We're sort of like that.
Do you play live?
As long as we can afford the travel, The Coffinettes will play anywhere with anyone!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is the lifeblood of our band's promotion. Thanks to the World Wide Web, The Coffinettes have been able to create a little renown in their genre. We wholly support music pirates, as long as they verbally support us!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the terms were worthwhile.
Band History:
We're still in the history making process. Whether or not our particular venture, however, will effect anyone except us is debatable. As long as we get cool tombstones, the kind that people always look at with a sort of awe, then we're square.
Your influences?
Michael: Rozz Williams, Sascha Kieltko, Nivek Ogre, Peter Murphy, and Andy Deane.
Danny: The Cure, Specimen, Bowie, Gopal Metro.
