WHO IS BARON SAMEDI ?

Well ... who cares ? What is important is what you hear, the music and the feelings it brings to each one of us. And whether you call it "feelings", "vibe", "emotion" or "soul", the music of Baron Samedi is packed with it. A music full of passion, full of melodies bright like the sun which seem to go straight to your heart.

WHO IS BARON SAMEDI ?

Just close your eyes and open your soul ...
Why this name?
Essentially that name seemed to capture really well the different sides of our music, at time mysterious and bewitching, at times dark and tribal. And also, it is a cool name !
Do you play live?
Playing live is the reason this band came together in the first place ...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We believe it will liberate the creativity which is sleeping in everyone of us. Not only musicians, but also writers, poets, painters, photographers will be able to share their vision (and their sounds) with the world.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only if there is garantee to keep total artistic control.
Band History:
Baron Samedi started at the beginning of 1999, somewhere in London. Val wrote the first song (Neverafter) 2 weeks after his father died, between Christmas and New Year's day. Since then
Val moved to Austria, and although we didn't split, the band has become much more of a virtual concept !
Your influences?
Musically the starting point of the band was to mix great guitars a la Led Zeppelin with funky grooves, and a sound somewhere between Lenny Kravitz and Depeche Mode. The texts treat every subjects, even the most serious ones (such as AIDS, tensions in the middle-east, environment) but always on a background of dancy music.
Favorite spot?
"Barcelona ! Although I haven't been to Sidney yet and it would probably top the list ..." (Val)
"Paris sera toujours Paris" (Amelie)
"Tokyo is without a doubt the coolest place" (Tommy)
