well hello there fans off the elf and most welcome visitors. hope you enjoy the site, its not much i know but hey its a start. if you know our band then you'll know what we're all about but if not then i guess we should be introduced as a rock revolution. with 3 top class guitarists plus a nifty slap and pop bass artist we are able to provide crunching rock riffs combined with sweet harmonies and incredible solos. the aim? - to bring a new style to rocking out with a move away from the conventional, samey bands of this era.
Why this name?
well we've had a few horrible names in the past such as 'pay per view' (a terrible cheesy clichéd kinda pop-punk name) and '21st Chronicle' (which lets face it is just poo). after much name changing in the first 6 months of the band we finally settled on the infamous name of 'Missing Elf' inspired by a certain cartoon. we found it original and catchy - much like our blend of music.
Do you play live?
we believe rock music is all about the live performances and were privileged to headline one of the stages at Guilfest this year - the 6th biggest music festival in the UK. keep music live!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
well its helped the fans immensely. some artists of course are against it due to a loss of potential profit (like that f***er lars ulrich), but its our opinion that rock isnt about selling out - its about spreading a musical vision to try and create moods in people. we want to make an impact emotionally, not financially.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
well contrary to an anti-sell-out philosophy (see above), we would be willing to accept any decent offer we got in order to spread our music across a wider scale. and get damn rich damn quick. live fast die young...
Band History:
originally a few lads at school mucking around with guitars (Matt, Mark, Rob + a guy named Alex), Missing Elf has really taken off from there. Whilst searching for a drummer they found schoolmate Phil and the original band was formed. Alex unfortunately did not last much longer than the appointment of a drummer and '21st Chronicle' as they were then began making music. mark was roped into singing and many classic tunes were written such as 'Mangala Hari' and punk classic 'A Song About Skateboarding And Getting Dumped'. the later addition of lead guitarist Adam really tightened up the band and moved them away from general mucking around to serious song writing and a quick name change to the legend that is 'Missing Elf' sealed their fate. we have never looked back from there.
Your influences?
well each member of the band has a varying degree of influences from all over the rock spectrum, past and present (especially drummer Phil who gets bullied for his tastes). i think the artists that come through in our music though are the likes of Hendrix and AC/DC, yet also those of Marilyn Manson and Muse
Favorite spot?
well my personal one is philosophy point back behind the yvonne arnaud theatre in guildford. good times were had by all.
Anything else...?
rock on.
