Some new groovy riffs im working with as well as an excuse to test out a new mix! Not quite sure what this will go to, if it does end up with Periphery i may flesh it out a bit more...
Seeing as how Nobuo Uematsu is one of our all time favorite composers, Mark Holcomb and I decided to do a medley of sorts for the Haunted Shores EP im producing and cowriting for. Someone make sure Nobuo hears this hehe!
Just got Toontrack's Metal Foundry expansion, and made a little test clip. A total work in progress mixwise, but i think the sounds are very workable and sound really awesome, some good old fashioned tweaking should yield some good results i think!
Just got a Vigier Excalibur and my god its amazing. Decided to make a short clip with it. In hindsight perhaps not the most relevant clip since the guitar is tuned to Drone G haha, but the bright character of the guitar is still there!
Been listening to a lot of Telefon and Jaga Jazzist lately, and those definitely influenced the way this song came out in some ways. Other than that its just kinda chill and groovy!
Been jamming on these riffs for a minute and figured i would record it. Basically just an attempt at an alt rock song, just keepin it simple and catchy and messing with a new mix. Apologies for the lame sounding fake bass but mines not here...
Just a new very rough unmixed idea im working on. Im not totally sold on the arrangement as is, but then again its too short anyways so we will see what happens! Maybe it will be a Periphery song someday!
Everyone loves MJ, and as soon as we found out about his death, the Periphery boys and I decided we had to cover a song, we chose to Black or White, and now 24 hours later we present this to you! Major thanks to Taylor Larson for Engineering the vox!
Jake and I decided to work on some electronic stuff tonite and this is what we came up with, something nice and chill...
Just a short tone test with my Blackmachine F8.
New rough song idea. Yes i know i should be working on the album, but Tom didnt come over to do bass today, so i pretty much had the day to myself...and now to relax!
I restrung the Illustrated 8 and tuned it to something absurd low, cant remember, and whipped up a short djenty clip in like 20 mins to show it off.
A song i whipped up for April Fools 2009. Alex called me a few moments before i started recording this saying he was emailing me a clip of him making various dog sounds and i had to use them in the clip.
This is a demo being done for the album which is using a mix the album will be based off of, and there are vocals on this version as well!!
New idea i have been working with. Dont really know where its going to go, or what im going to do with it, might even make it longer or make it progress, but its kinda fun as is as well! Used the B6 on this one!
I decided to record a quick section of the Periphery song Not Enough Mana to showcase my new Blackmachine B6 and how clear and musical it is in a recording setting. This guitar has become my new yardstick to be quite honest!
I wrote this song in Mauritius, most likely to use with OMNOM. My laptop's HDD failed before i had a chance to back up the data and i lost everything i did. Epic Fail.
Man im kinda tired after this one haha! I havent really tried a song like this before, but i had fun with it. It really does seem like being in Mauritius brings the inspiration...
So im in Mauritius again, and i have my axefx and laptop with me, so i decided to record something heavy and groovy for my new 'The Djentlemen' project! www.myspace.com/thedjentlemen
Tom added vocal ideas to this song. Keep in mind that they are just rough ideas and that he will be rerecording the finalized takes soon!
We have a singer finally! His name is Chris Barretto and here he is singing on Light!
I rerecorded this song so that i would have an excuse to work on my axefx/s2 mix. No layers, and some riffs were changed/removed/written.
Rerecorded this song for fun with the axefx ultra and s2.0. Not all the layers are there because i got tired, but the ones that are were done with the pod, and the drums were programmed by orbo!
Making some progress with the unit! This is a pretty different tone from the last clip, and there is even a short little lead at the end so you guys can hear how it handles those.
Here is a little throwaway clip of my first attempt of recording something with my axefx ultra, no post eq or processing of any kind on guitars, they just fit right in, i love this thing!!
