Howdy !!! I was born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas, so I got the best of both worlds !!
Why this name?
Named after my Dad.
Do you play live?
Yes!! Available for hire as a Duo with Curtis Wayne or Full Band!! We play a variety of styles and have a good time!!! Drop us an e-mail, let's discuss!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it opens all kinds of avenues for the artist and the listener. There is a wealth of "undiscovered" talent out there!!!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would consider it (yeah right..bring it on) !!! It was once my ultimate goal. However, since becoming a parent "stability" (day job) is at the forefront.
Band History:
In the early 80's I played piano and sang back-up in a road band (Wild Red Horse) for Curb Recording artist the "Burrito Brothers". In 1985 I formed my own band, cut a Custom Label album, produced by Burrito Brother - John Beland, titled "Country Lady" which was also going to be a single release. I received a "Recommend" in Billboard Magazine in Nov. 1986 for "Country Lady" but due to circumstances was never released. My wife and I moved to Nashville (Hendersonville) in 1988. I was fortunate to meet and work with some good people (and have a few songs published) there before heading back to Texas in 1997 after our child was born.
Your influences?
I grew-up singing Gospel music, I love Southern Gospel quartet music. As far as country influences Glen Campbell, Vern Gosdin, Larry Gatlin, Dean Dillon and of course George Strait. I am a big fan of Traditional Country music with contemporary flavor !!!
Favorite spot?
I love to bass fish. So, I guess in the boat on just about any lake where the wind is blowing less than 20 mph!!!
Equipment used:
Fender, Epiphone and Peavey Guitars, Yamaha Keyboards, Good ol' solid Peavey Amps.
