Boingy Pongo
NEWS   Boingy Pongo has been on sabatical for some time... to return soon but for now check out www.henleandtheloops.com for the latest.
Boingy Pongo is a loose collection of individuals that live in my head and get together rarely to create organized cacophony. Chuck Carter is the most consistant personality and really must be held responsible for the nature of the noise. He is an egomaniac and believes that he can do or be anything he wants to be.
Why this name?
It's the Right Here Right Now when the past and the future come together to create the "Oh Yea!!"
Do you play live?
I do hope to be live when I play, it will make for much better music.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
People can take music anywhere, you could find me here.... that's probably good. People spend hours a day in front a phosphor-imprenated piece of glass being bombarded with electrons instead of taking walks or doing yoga or talking to live peopl...... that's probably not good.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
When the eagles fly there's no telling what I might do.
Band History:
1979 - Started as the punk band "Hurry Scurry"
1980 - Morphed into the Jazz combo "Opus"
1982 - Became 40's dance bands "Tuxedo Junction" and "The Tim Barnett Dance Band" (with some help)
1983 - A Summer as the "Frontier Bandits"
1988 - The Chuck and Fritz Jazz Duo
2000 - Boingy Pongo
Your influences?
My (our) musical influences are widely varied, from Duke Ellington to The Who and James Brown to the Beatles I (we) find happiness in most tunes played by good musicians. George Harrison wrote the most honest and touching tunes. Coltrane played the most honest horn. Louis Armstrong started it all with "Stardust"!!!
Favorite spot?
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Equipment used:
Expensive Kinds.
Anything else...?
If I can put anything here that lightens your load in life I've really accomplished something. 'Cuz life can be heavy.
