I don't think it changes the "industry" that much as it does the "end user", the listener no longer has to accept what is offered by the record companies and go out looking for a group/sound that they want to hear.

I use a Behringer V-AMP 2 for amps and Yamaha SBG's and a Fender Stratocastor for electric guitars, I use Ovation 6 & 12 strings for acoustics. I record to a TASCAM Porta2 4 track or sometimes straight to the computer.
