Representing the next step in the evolution of Detroit rock, Space Nelson is a band consisting of four talented Detroit area musicians who have joined forces after jamming in separate and successful acts throughout the Midwest. The result of this musical union is a distinctive and innovative sound, one that fuses progressive and alternative rock styles. This new musical experience can be heard on Space Nelson's independent debut release, "Cutting Edge Pinball," and on their newest release, "Slackjawed."

Space Nelson has been playing local spots seriously since forming in 1996. With high-energy live performances and attention to musical detail, the band has made a name for itself around the Detroit music scene. Since the release of "Cutting Edge Pinball" in 1997, Space Nelson has been receiving radio airplay on both college and major Detroit radio stations. In mid 1999, the band released its second LP "Slackjawed," which included two new studio tracks, and captured the band's powerful live sound. Since their releases, several hundred copies of "Cutting Edge Pinball" and "Slackjawed" have been sold at live performances and retail music stores throughout the Detroit area.

Space Nelson consists of founding members John Piasentin on guitar and vocals, and Eric Fischer on drums. The band is completed with the recent additions of Scott Thomson on guitar/keyboards/vocals, and Gary Lock on bass guitar.

With their unique musical style - representing influences as diverse as Rush and Radiohead - Space Nelson is quickly gaining popularity. With the independent releases of "Cutting Edge Pinball" and "Slackjawed," the band is poised to truly make its mark on the local scene - and attract national attention. Space Nelson owes much of its musical success to simple hard work and dedication - plus an uncanny ability to make intricate music accessible to an ever-expanding fan base.
