Shackled Fervor
NEWS
May 30 2004 - Jay has been completely grounded from his drum set. We have obtained a new drummer named Jeff Chinn. Jeff is good, but I miss Jay. We're teaching Jeff our originals in case Jay can't keep up his grades. Nathan is planning on buying a 6-string bass (fretted) soon. Jeff's aunt is going to be getting some cash soon (yay) so he will be getting a new Pearl or Tama 7-piece drumkit. I (Daniel) might be able to dish out some of the doh-reh-mee to get him some cymbals, but I'm also saving up for an Ibanez RG 7-string. If you want the link for it, it's here:
http://www.music123.com/Ibanez-RG1527-i90372.music
It's really awesome and I can't wait to make it part of my rig. Sorry about the brief description of equipment, maybe I'll be smart enough to update it soon (doubt it). Ok, that's all for now, I'll update about gigging around Alameda soon.
May 31 2004 - We had a rehearsal today with Jeff Chinn, substitute drummer for Jay Yarbrough. We currently have a cover song and an original song ready to go. Not bad, for a one-day rehearsal with a drummer that just joined the band. I figured out that I have around $200, meaning that I have to obtain nearly $400 more before I can buy the guitar I want. I am juggling the idea of buying a mixer with a condenser mic first, or just going with the guitar. Oh well, either way, I'm going to get both. Oh yeah, I also got a new fan (NECESSARY FOR MY STUDIO PRACTICE ROOM) so now we can practice without feeling like we're in a f***ing JUNGLE! Trying to put Dodompa on the site as well, should happen soon.
June 4 2004 - Ok, I don't why people are being weird about Dodompa! None of us are homosexual, it's just a FUNNY SONG! Get with the program, weirdos... Anyway, we are having a band rehearsal tomorrow, and I am planning on buying an Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 soon so I can record drums and get very high quality recordings from an amp. Be back soon with more info! And chill out on the dodompa thing...
June 5 2004 - Ok, this sucks. Jeff can't come to rehearsal today because his aunt wants him to clean the garage, but I guess that Nathan was gonna have problems with a rehearsal today as well. Something about his cousin being over... Anyway, still saving up for the Aardvark thing, hoping to find a job ASAP for good hours after school. If I can do that, I'm set for sure.
June 16 2004 - Been a while since the last post, and for good reason. We haven't had a rehearsal in quite a while. However, I had the pleasure of going over to Jay's church tonight and checkin out the music scene there. I'm looking forward to hopefully becoming a member of the youth group there and also becoming a member of the youth group BAND. Although much of the material will be youth group worship music, I'm sure that Wes (sp?), the head guy, will let us perform originals for practice on stage. This will all happen after summer though. I leave for Australia soon on June 21 2004. I'm looking forward to this once-in-a-life-time oppurtunity, but I will definitely miss my friends during this 13 day period of fun. The band will be back together for sure by the end of summer and we are going to be WAY MORE SERIOUS! If Jay can't handle the heat with school, I've already told him that he can't be our drummer. He knows that and he accepts it and now, he's gonna do something about it. However, until that time Jeff will remain the stand-in drummer for us. If Jay does become a permenant member of the band, changes to the site will be made immediately and new recordings will be dealt with immediately as well. Thanks for readin the update, I'll be back on in about 4 to 5 weeks. !Que les vayan bien amigos!
July 15 2004 - Back with some more updates. We have currently been contacted by a recording label named Statue Records that is interested in liscensing and distributing the upcoming album of ours. Title of the album is yet to come, but we're working really hard to get Jay back into Alameda and get him recording drum tracks. We are recording with new equipment due to the addition of the Aardvark 24/96 Direct Pro to our recording rig. Samples of the songs will be put on the site when the drum tracks get laid down. We plan for the album to start and end with an instrumental song and fill the instrumental sandwich with some really catchy heavy metal/hard rock tunes. Keep in mind that almost none of our songs are under 5:30 long, so if you have a short attention span... Currently, we have two songs that are recorded and waiting for mastering. I'm going to come up with the set list here in a few weeks for the album.
Look for new recordings by late August!!!

Thanks for the interest in the site, I'll try to keep you posted on any more updates.
July 19 2004 - I decided just to come on and say that recording is coming along quite nicely. I now have 4 songs laid down and ready to be toyed around with and mixed and mastered. Jay called me to inform me that he is getting out of his grandma's a week earlier and will be able to come over and record for 2 days STRAIGHT! Good news. I hope that we can get a lot of it done, but I know that I'm not even going to have all of the songs recorded by that point. I have no need for false hope at this point. In any case, things are going nicely and I'm not worried about getting bass tracks laid out. I'll be giving Nathan the rough recordings and he can come up with bass lines and then, if he still needs more assistance, I can send him random power tabs of the riffs that he doesn't understand and can't figure out. I gotta go now, thanks for reading and I'll be back to update in a few days.
August 18 2004 - Well, recording didn't go as well as I thought. Jay needed more time to practice the songs then I had expected. He should have had the song for months before we tried recording those songs. Anyhow, the reason why none of the new songs are on the internet yet is because none of them have met my standards yet. I'm not going to be putting any more useless material on the site. I'm only putting stuff on here that all of us want to be on here. However, Gaping Void is close to being done. Nathan is still laying down bass tracks, but it's not his fault. We are having some hard times finding a good way to record the bass and Nathan doesn't have any bass preamps, so it's either recording through an amp or direct. Genesis would also be done, but the drums are too sketchy for me to consider them done. Jay just had some major issues in the studio. I have faith that he will be able to rectify these downfalls with time. If he doesn't, ;-).
October 29 2004 - I haven't updated, because no one looks at this part of the site anyway. So, Jay is going to record tomorrow for Fields of Azaron. Thank you for your time (Mr. Nobody) and good----------bye.
November 14 2004 - Back on this part of site to announce that we had our first concert last night at a local club in Alameda called Rooster's Roadhouse. It was great. We really enjoyed ourselves and the other bands were very complimentary. It was a great show. Going to try to host streaming video here sometime soon. Gotta talk to John about the mechanics of that, but when I figure it out I will definitely put a blatantly obvious link on the front page, much like the other ones. Thanks to all who came out to see us including all my friends, parts of Nathan's family and friends, all of Jay's family and his friends and most importantly, John. Thank you so much John, your help was necessary and we look forward to having you on rhythm guitar ASAP.
November 20 2004 - We are booked for another show at Rooster's on the 26th, thats right, the Friday after Thanksgiving. Anyhow, we hope to see you all there and we hope that the show turns out to be good.
November 29 2004 - We had a show on Friday. It was pretty bad. We actually stayed for the whole show this time and saw the other bands. None of them had any resemblance to our band's sound. It was very interesting. Not to mention, we didn't get paid even though we stayed for the whole gig. Bad show, bad mood, bad day. Nation's was good though.
March 10 2005 - Well, there's good reason why we haven't posted since the last show. Everything has pretty much been going downhill since then. We played both the day and night talent shows at our school, which were both pretty decent shows with our good friend Danny Brownson backing us up on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. All three of us (Me, Nathan, Danny) were not happy with Jay's attitude during the whole process. Jay pushed things further and eventually the thin string that was holding this band together... snapped. Jay is not officially out of the band, but we don't think that Shackled Fervor will be together anymore... at all. Since no one reads this anyway, I guess I'm kind of writing this as a journal entry for myself to look back on later on and listen to some of these shitty songs that we actually thought were good at some point in time. I hope that I never forget the name of this band so I can come back here ages from now and look at myself and chuckle. Thanks to all of our fans (my mom?) who supported us during this time of chaos. I hope our last moments on stage were good, because our last moments off stage were terrible. This is Daniel signing out probably forever. Peace.

Why this name?
Daniel (the guitar player) just started spitting out band names and we liked Shackled Fervor more than the other crappy names and even this name is crappy. It's so funny, people always ask us our name and when I tell them, I always have to repeat myself at least 4 or 5 times. I guess no one in the world knows what "fervor" means... Is that really my fault?
Do you play live?
We have played only one club at the moment. It is a local club in Alameda called Rooster's Roadhouse. It's a great club. We got some live footage, I'm gonna try my best to host it on the web and put a link to it on the front page. There you will find all our "special" moments. ;-)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows people to get their names out there and get known faster. This site alone has given us great publicity and excellent motivation to improve our recordings.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course, as long as it isn't Statue Records... filthy liars...
Band History:
This band's history is endless. The guitar player (Daniel) and the drummer (Jay) have been in numerous bands since the formation of this final line-up. Jay was actually involved with a different member in a band called "Dark Mind" for some time, but when he decided that it was time to go separate ways, they broke up. Jay then went on to play with a band called "Those Guys" with a different guitar player. Daniel came in to play bass, and even keyboards for some time. After this interesting endeavor, we decided that we just didn't want to be there, but "Those Guys" was the start of the dynamic duo of Jay and Daniel. Daniel decided that he wanted to learn guitar. While he was learning he was also a full time guitar player for the new line-up in "Dark Mind" with Jay on drums. Jay and Daniel had many names under the line-up of "Dark Mind", but nothing really worked because Daniel just wasn't good enough yet. It wasn't until Freshman year in high school that Jay and Daniel decided to get serious about their music and get Nathan Gooch as their bass player. Nathan impressed us so much that we didn't even decide he was in the band, it was just assumed. Nowadays, Nathan is also the backing vocalist and Daniel sings lead vocals.
Although I skipped a lot, all of this has lead us to where we are today, with the name "Shackled Fervor" and playing in local Alameda.
