"I've got a secret I can't tell" - from Sworn To Silence's first single "Designation" sums up the feelings of a band who makes it's home in a place where the music scene is it's best kept secret, Cleveland, Ohio.
Why this name?
The name stemmed from a 1996 writing session.
Do you play live?
Sworn 2 Silence, after a prolonged hiatus, while our drummer was away learning to be a recording engineer, and our bassist was away being found have finally regrouped and have begun work on a new album and tour.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet, in it's own bullish way, has allowed independent and upstart artists, like ourselves, and our friends in Switched, Chimaira, and Erase The Grey, a chance to show their music to a world of people without having to spend all of their time touring the world with no money/label support. This gives us time to continue writing new material and working on our next project. It's also a great referral tool for A&R and booking agents.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Major labels arent all they're cracked up to be,.. just look at our friends from Switched and Erase The Grey.. where are their labels now?
Band History:
The songwriting and lyrical partnership in the band is due to a longterm friendship between Lead Vocalist Guy Christopher; Guitarist/Vocalist/Keyboardist, Chad Dennis; Guitarist/Vocalist, Duane Rutter; Percussionist, Scott Dall; Bassist, Ryan Burnsworth; and Vocalist/Keyboardist Larena Krohe which spans well over ten years.
Your influences?
We love funk rock/metal, big band, lounge music, Sw1tched, Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Korn, The Beatles, Incubus, Alice in Chains, Primus, Coinmonster, The Apex Theory, Tori Amos, Holly McNarland.
Favorite spot?
Cle-town is right up there baby!
