Why this name?
It was a pun I used for my first album & have continued with.
Do you play live?
I do, it's more of a studio project at the moment but I am up for owt.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes it easier to find different types of music that weren't widely available before.
Having a space where musicians can completely control their output means they can sidestep the need for a record deal & don't have to compromise with their music.
It can also be used to help change money motivated aspects of the music industry.
Mp3 quality leaves a lot to be desired though.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but I am making uncommercial, unslick music so I don't think it's likely to happen.
Band History:
My first sound experiments as Ray Kosmische were live mixes overdubbed using a 4 track cassette machine, effects and analogue synthesisers.
These recordings resulted in the 1998 album True Orbit.

It is a sound collage album made up of abstract electronic music, influenced by ambient and shoegaze soundscape music of the early 90s.
When I heard German Kosmische bands from the 1970s I felt a musical kinship.

Synthesisers always sounded sci-fi to me..

I began collaborating with musicians, putting together a home studio and recording on a 8 track 1/4" tape machine.

My vocal style developed from being inspired by the 'talk over' style of 50s/60's pop.
Through writing lyrics I started to create stories and word play.. films and books have always been an influence on my music.

In 2004 I released my second album Bringing back Talk Over.

Then I carried on making sounds. Dig it..Please feel free!
