This is the type of music all MC's should hear; a combination of hardcore, underground & mainstream hip-hop that keeps the Lord included. You can be sure that anyone that listens to this will be changed for the better. 8th Wonda is a producer/writer/performer/lyrical adviser and is also the Overseer of Armaggedon Entertainment projects. His release, World of Wondas released 12/19/03, shook the locals and will shake the world in due time. Now with the new release of the Armaggedon Entertainment CD "Sound Mind", the whole click will get the opportunity to minister to everyone in a way previously unheard of. It's an experience you will never regret.
Why this name?
First of all, I'm 6'9" and I'm very methodical in the ways I do things. It takes a lot to figure me out. So much so that the name just fits. It was given to me around mid 1996.
Do you play live?
That's my favorite thing to do! Anywhere there is a mic. I've performed at Backstage Cafe' in Downtown Norfolk, VA House of Comedy, Juneteenth Festival in Suffolk, VA, Discover Life Festival at I.C. Norcom High School in P-City VA, Calvary Revival Church & numerous other locales.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For one, it makes music of all types more accessible (and free!) and it also gives a chance for alot of good artists to be heard inexpensively.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, if I could bring a label under them featuring quality music that is as good (if not better) than my own.
Band History:
I've been spittin since 1989 when I was 9 years old. I started with a guy now known as C.A.T.A.S.H. and we formed our own group. Later around 1993 I met Cleph Knotes and he & I founded a group together called Armaggedon. Around 1997 we picked up another MC by the name of Hipnotic & the group gelled from that point. Together the 3 of us made 3 albums, and we also expanded by including CATASH as well as newcomers like Renaissance, S.E.V.E.N and Knawledge and calling it Armaggedon Entertainment. Then we decided to see what our solo efforts would look like. So with that, I released World of Wondas, a project written, produced, arranged, recorded, mixed and promoted by myself. (Big shouts to D-Law on the Graphics) The album features the whole Armaggedon Entertainment, extended families and other hot MC's. During that time I used the album as a weeding process to see who was actually talking it as well as walking it. Through that process we've eliminated two artists who didn't share in our vision. Then I took an unexpected turn for the good. I decided to give my music to God. Now a spiritual Hip-Hop artist combined with Armaggedon Entertainment, I intend to let everyone know just how good God is and how He changed my life and how He can change yours.
Your influences?
Slum Village, RZA, Pete Rock, Kanye West, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, & other outstanding MC's and producers.
Favorite spot?
P-Town, VA. I've been to Brooklyn once and loved it, but ain't nothing like home, you know.
Equipment used:
I've learned that it's not what you use, but what you do with what you have. Forget 48 tracks, if you can make your 8 track bump, more power to ya! I personally use Cool Edit Pro, a Roland VS-840EX, Roland CDX-1, Triton LE & other programs.
