Why this name?
I actually struggled finding a name. My first rap name was Scrappy G. Then the more serious I got about my music it was cut to "G" In search for the perfect name I went the dictionary. Looked under the letter G and saw gemini meant exceptional one. I showed it to a friend and he suggested I change the spelling. That is how Gem-N-Eye was born.
Do you play live?
I took several months off to complete the "Welcome To My World" project. I will start scheduling shows in the near future.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It provides "unsigned" artists an avenue to be heard . Before the internet, artists only hope to be successful was get signed by a big label. Now there are far more opportunities available for us. I think as sites such as sounclick.com gain popularity, the big labels will start to sweat a bit. All we (unsigned artists) need is a national channel that plays our music videos and it'll be on.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. Big labels still have the media power to put you in every household in the world. I think boy bands are a prime example. One out of every 30 boy band members actually have talent, but all are laughing on their way to the bank. I want a piece of that pie. I think any artist with talent deserve it.
Your influences?
My musical influences vary. I grew up on everything form heavy metal to old school rap. That is why the music on my songs are so diverse. I respect talent and will listen to anything from country, pop, to rock if the group doesn't suck
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot on earth is on stage in front of a Live crowd. Life gets no better.
