Band History:
In January 2002, four best friends who had each been playing instruments for a few years already at the time decided to come together and officially form a band. Determined to write original music, they spent months writing and developing their sound. In April 2002, they played live for the first time at Mars Music’s ‘Bands Night Out’. A month later they played for the neighborhood pool opening party. That summer, however, was spent even more developing the sound and music. The fall season of 2002 was primarily spent with all four guys in the Lassiter marching band, proving to win the 2002 Bands Of America National Championship. After this award, they received more and more recognition by people as great musicians as well as performers, as their live shows prove. In January 2003, they recorded their first CD with a neighbor. This gave some people a chance to get a taste of the music being produced. In February 2003, XeRo played at a Lassiter Open Mic Night. Then in April 2003, XeRo was invited to play Frontside Skatepark with InElement and Pushbutton. That night they introduced their music to a whole new crowd. After that show, they hung low for a while, still relentlessly working on their sound and music. Then in November 2003, Ryan decided that he didn’t enjoy singing lead anymore and wanted to concentrate more on guitar. So the band began the search for a lead singer. That month, they self-recorded an instrumental demo CD on a 4-track recorder, hoping to use the CD as a tool in the search for a vocalist. In early January 2004, the band was asked to play a show at the Masquerade. In need of a singer however, the band called on longtime friend and fellow musician, Danny Helms - the bassist of longtime friends, InElement. When the Masquerade show rolled around, Danny blew everyone in the house away...screaming but also singing with much emotion and love for music and performance. That night, Danny officially became the fifth member of XeRo. One week later, the band played a short 3-song set at Lassiter High School for another Open Mic Night. This time, the band got every person in the crowd to their feet, jumping and having a great time during the show. That performance put much into perspective for many people who had never seen XeRo perform before.
XeRo is currently writing more music and booking shows through the summer. Also, the band is planning to record another CD in the coming months. But what keeps people coming to each of their shows seems to be not only XeRo’s stage presence and entertaining live performances, but their ever-evolving and improving sound. Anyone who has ever been with the band as they write a new song knows how much this quote is said: “No, we’re not going to use that...it sounds too much like Korn/Metallica/Deftones/Incubus/Taproot/Nirvana/Linkin Park/Sevendust/Red Hot Chili Peppers/Hoobastank/Cold/Limp Bizkit/Mudvayne/Ill Nino, etc.”
Basically, the sound of XeRo appears to finalize as a blend of every one of their musical influences, and then some...
