Lisaius is a band based in Marina Del Rey/Venice California. Well we practice there anyway. We are five people who make music.
Why this name?
The band name is taken from the last name of our good friend in High School Rob Lisaius. Although his real name is Algred Lisaius. We just thought it sounded cool, and I think it's funny that Rob Lisiaus isn't actually in the band. He told us that it means "like a fox" in lithouenian.
Do you play live?
so far we have only played a few times. Our first show was in october 2002 at the hotel cafe in Hollywood before we had a drummer, then we played outside the museum of contemporary art (MOCA) then at the whsikey and then at the knitting factory.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don't think the internet will destroy the record companies
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes
Band History:
We talked about band names way before we really were a band. For a long time we did'nt even have a drummer. It really started in the fall of 2002 after we graduated high school with Nate Michalski, Jonas Aaron and myself Charlie Lesoine, my moms friend Abba Roland said she and her band were playing at the hotel cafe and we could open for them, so we practiced a few songs (promise land, cancelled planets and grey town)I had written and the other guys came up with parts. Jonas on bass Nate on guitar. After that we arranged a few other songs but we switched our instruments around. I played bass when nate sang and jonas would play lead guitar or when I sang nate or jonas would play bass or lead. We recorded three songs at a practice studio in hollywood with my dad playing drums in order to give prospect drummers some idea of what we played. Then one day we saw this drummer kid who we jammed with once in high school before we really got our act together. His name was Charlie Bowland and we saw him at a blockbuster video in santa monica and we asked him to be in our band. He agreed. After that, we practiced and played two shows with him. One at MOCA and the other at the Whiskey. Druing this time we recorded three demos on my fourtrack. We also recorded three other songs at a real studio in Venice. Then, at the beginning of summer 2003, Jonas tragically moved back to England where he is from. that really sucked because he was a really good guitar player, and now we really cant play any of the songs we used to do where he played lead. Plus is our good friend and sucks when friend move away in general. Any, after that, nate and I joined forces with his brother Gabe and our mutual friend victor in the fall of 2003 and began practicing with a new drummer Gabe Hernandez played one show at the knitting factory in december then that drummer quit. But now we have an even better drummer named Willie...
