Todd Wilson, Ralph Herrera, Art Nunez and Michael Stevens make up MXD BREED. Out of Visalia, with old school influence (I mean really old) clashing with the new age rock, MXD BREED pelts out head banging riffs with a little valium on the side! We have original stuff that we love to crank out. So far we've rocked out in Visalia, Tulare, Kingsburg, Three Rivers and Farmersville. We have some more gigs lined up and hopefully one near you. Check out our website at www.mxdbreed.com. Let us know what you think!
Why this name?
Years ago, I think it was 1991, the original line-up of Todd, Ralph and original drummer Jason Rouse came up with many names. As a joke one of us said we should name ourselves Mixed Breed. After a little bit of thought, we all liked that name and we called ourselves "Mixed Breed" but later shortened it to MXD Breed.
Do you play live?
We play live anytime we can. We've played in Tulare, CA @ J Street Bar & Grill (840 Entertainment); River's Night Club in Kingsburg, CA; Cask-N-Cleaver in Visalia, CA; The Blitz Sports Bar in Visalia, CA; The Green Olive in Visalia, CA; Played at bike runs in Three Rivers, CA and in Farmersville, CA. We LOVE playing live. There's no other feeling. Our special moment was the first time ever playing in front of a crowd. This was in October of 2002 at a Arts Festival in Visalia, CA. It was a small crowd, but it was the first time ever... whoa!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the internet has put alot of pressure on the music industry. Now, the music has to be good to the listener and not have it forced down their throats by the industry. The cost of a CD is small compared to the retail price of them. The Artist only sees a small portion of the actual sales of CD's. The Industry itself gets the big chunk of change. Now, with the internet and MP3's, the industry has to tailor to all genres of music, not just Britney and Michael! It's good for the underground!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would depend on what the deal was! Blindly, NO.
Band History:
Originally formed in the Fall of 1991, MXD BREED has overcome lots of sh... stuff. Drummer, Jason Rouse (Tulare, Ca) and guitarist, Ralph Herrera (Woodlake, Ca) joined forces while working at a small grocery store in Visalia, Ca. Bassist, Todd Wilson (Visalia, Ca) had played with Jason a few times before and soon joined, making up MXD BREED. Years passed and the band played on and off. In early 2002, Jason got the old trio back together to play again. We then went looking for a singer and that's when we found Robert Smith (Visalia, Ca). MXD BREED has regenerated itself.

OCT. 2002

We played our first gig on October 5th, 2002 and it rocked. We are planning on getting more gigs lined up as soon as we get our sh$t together. So keep on looking for us.

NOVEMBER 2002

In November of 2002, longtime drummer, Jason Rouse, has left the band to care for his family. We wish him well.

We found one! We found a drummer! Woohoo! November 24th, 2002 we found Brad Standley, drummer extraordinaire (right). Anyway help us welcome Brad. And wish us luck.

JANUARY 2003

We came back with a show for the new year on January 3rd, 2003 at J Street Bar and Grill.Kudos to Brad, he did a hell of a job. We played 9 songs and shined!

FEBRUARY 2003

On February 7th, 2003 we rocked the house again in Tulare, CA, along with Hippocampus (these guys rock) and RAGG (not only a purty sight, they rocked to). 12 songs... and all original. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us. And also thanks to Chad from 840 Entertainment.

As of the end of February, Robert Smith departed the band. And we began to search out a singer. We would like to extend paramount aspirations to Robert throughout his everlasting endeavors.

MARCH 2003

UPDATE!!! After an extensive search, on March 12th, 2003, Carly Anderson joined us! Welcome Carly! We have a gig on the 28th, so all of you out there sitting in your chair, get off your, err... uh, chair... and come and check us out!

APRIL 2003

A bit of bad news... In April of 2003, Carly Anderson had to give up singing for us. She's got some important things that she needs to take care of. We wish her the best! She will always be remembered as "Barbie the Burpie Belcher" to us. Take care!

We are looking and looking for a singer, can't find one! We'll let you know as soon as we know... if we know... ya' know!

MAY 2003

After another extensive search... On May 24th, 2003, we found a singer! Yeah (again)! Well, anyway, welcome South Carolinan: Doug Lawing. Well, he was from South Carolina, but now he lives in Armona. Just don't drink the water! Welcome aboard Doug!

May also brought a sad note... Brad Standley had to step out of the lime light for a spell. He needs some time to shake out the demons and cure his binge drinking (of gatorade). Seriously, he has to have some time for his back to heal. Hopefully, he will recover to the fullest! But for now, he has temporarily left the band. You will be in our thoughts!

We weren't left high and dry though, ex-MXD BREED drummer was hanging out at the local pub shining shoes (not really, but it sounded good, huh?). Well any-hoo, Jason Rouse is filling in on drums!
JUNE 2003

Has anyone seen Jason??? He was no where to be found... We called the local hospitals, jails and even hair restoration plants... no Jason! We have a show in July and no drummer.... daaaaammmmn!

(Cue the Superman music) Keith Krank, drummer extraordinaire, stepped up to help us get through the dilemma of "no drummer". Check us out in Farmersville!

JULY 2003

MXD BREED kicked some aiss, July 5th in Farmersville, California! Woo-hoo. This was Doug's first show and we couldn't have done it without the help of drummer Keith Krank! Doug did good, for a southern boy!

Now we are off to Cask-N-Cleaver on the 25th and we are going to need a drummer! Don't know how we're gonna pull this rabbit out of our as... hats... errr!

Ben Clevenger, drummer out of Visalia is practicing with MXD BREED for the show on the 25th... cross your fingers, your legs, your eyes... hell, just cross everything!

Well, we pulled another one out of our as... hats! Cask-N-Cleaver was a blast! Thanks to Abandoned Soulz (out of Cutler, Ca) for co-headlining this gig! Thanks to all of our fans who joined us and made this night AWESOME! Hey Ben, don't forget your drumset!

On the 25th, Tulare native Art Nunez joined MXD BREED. We now have one helluva drummer backing us up! And we are going to prove it. Come out August 10th, at River's Bar & Grill @ Riverland in Kingsburg, CA! We are entered in a Battle of the Bands! Oh yeah! Can ya feel it?!?!

AUGUST 2003

We headed back to J Street Bar & Grill in Tulare, CA. With a new drummer, Art Nunez and a new singer, Doug Lawing --- and the two old guys, bassist Todd Wilson and guitarist Ralph Herrera. MXD BREED rocked the house! We played alongside It'll Grow Back and Abandoned Soulz!

HOLY SH...SHNOOKERS! We won the first round, BATTLE OF THE BANDS!
