Laura Musgrave is a talented singer-songwriter who performs a range of melodic pop/rock songs. Born on the 4th February, 1985, the 19-year-old is originally from Leicestershire, England (UK).
In March 2003, she released the follow up to her 2001 demo EP “Beneath My Skin” through local independent label Second Thought Records – a full length album entitled “Sparking”. The self-produced album generated much interest and lead to overwhelming pre-release demand, being hailed as "an outstanding effort" and "amazing" by those who frequent the official website message boards in addition to local music fans. Reviewers have compared her to such respected musicians as Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, with Joe Dobzynski (head) of Project Aristotle Records predicting -
"Laura's voice is destined for great things"
Tracks from the album garnered huge success at music sites across the internet – “Down At The Last Minute” scooped the #1 spot on the Alternative/Acoustic chart at Soundclick.com and remained in the top 10 for several months afterwards. Meanwhile other tracks such as “Crashing Around”, “Don’t See It” and “Half As Perfect” clocked up hundreds of downloads and great reviews at Garageband.com
and Iuma.com. The intriguing trip-hop collaboration with Second Thought’s Ross Baker also proved hugely successful at websites such as MP3.com, electronicscene.com and Iuma.com.

The “Sparking” CD went on to become Second Thought Records’ top-selling release and is still selling, having been recently added to
US-based label Project Aristotle’s official Store Catalog. Laura’s official website – http://www.lauramusgrave.co.uk – currently receives more than 8000 visitors a year.
"It's rare these days to find someone who isn't dressing up otherwise heavy emotions with weird sounds or other gimmicks"
"Sparking is about as exposed and cliché-free an album as you'll find in this genre..."
- Dave Madden, Splendid E-Zine
Laura was a new, yet eager presence on the thriving Leicester acoustic scene in 2003 – as well as performances at Leicester’s City Acoustic Club, Laura appeared as part of Radio 1’s One Big Sunday festival in the city centre, alongside respected local musicians such as Scatz, Katie Skilling and Andy Griffiths, among others. Laura was also approached by promoters Hunter & Brown to secure further gigs across the city at venues such as The Musician, O’Neills and The Lost Bar (formerly Outside Café), supporting artists such as David Wyatt and Jon Cank. She
also formed the band Sleek Evolve with fellow songwriter Greg Jackson in 2002, which quickly became a successful acoustic duo frequenting
the Leicestershire area.
”Laura is one of the newest acts to arrive on the acoustic stage as well as one of the youngest. She has maturity and confidence that belies her age and has a really special voice. Keep a keen eye on this one as she has the potential to really make an impact on the acoustic scene in Leicester and maybe beyond.”
”She has enormous potential and a gift of a voice. To miss this one would be a sackable offence.”
- Hunter & Brown
Currently, Laura is based just north of London and is recording her forthcoming album “Sixes And Sevens”, which is due for release later in 2004.
She was recently featured in NME , on London's Xfm website and also the BBC 6 website for her upcoming appearance at the Summer Sundae
festival (alongside Air, Super Furry Animals, Easyworld, Amy Winehouse, David Wyatt and Katie Skilling) held at Leicester's DeMontfort Hall and Gardens.
