Hello world. I am Chris Kreilick, better known as The Big Dead Toe. Me and my buddy Eric McHugh decided to do a cd together. There is a little bit of everything on. Although it would lean towards being a trance / techno album, there really is a pretty good variety on it. There is a little bit of metal, latin pop and quite a bit of thematic stuff on there.
Why this name?
Ecco stands for the Eric and Chris Coalition
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It let's small time musicians be heard. It also gives people the chance to do more experimental stuff to see if it can be accepted.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe. It would be dependant on the freedom allowed and the expectations involved.
Band History:
This was an experimental venture between Eric McHugh and myself. Eric used to play in the San Fransisco based band Gateway. I came from the bands Piece Of Mind and Big Dead Toe both playing out of northwest Ohio. There really is no band history between us. I told eric about some music I was doing and after listening to it he couldn,t wait to get his hands on it. I had layed down several songs. He took them and added all the bells and wistles tweaked the drums and took the songs to the next level. The next 6 months were spent recording and mixing. A very tedious process but well worth the results.
Your influences?
I am a big fan of punk and 3 chord pop. From Rancid and the Ramones to Pere Ubu and Rob Zombie.
Eric likes everything from Juno Reactor to Jaco Pastorius (hope i spelled that right) and orchestra compositions.
Equipment used:
Loops, samples, Epiphone guitars, Warwick basses, Hartke and Marshall amps burps, farts and lots of other secrets.
Anything else...?
If you like what you hear, please let me know. If not, don't tell anyone.
