play lo-fi play hi-fi  Long Tall Texan (Live)

Sex, Beer and Rock-n-Roll!!!

Why this name?
Dave Racadio:I was walking across campus one chilly morning...... I was struck by the fact that the ladies were more concerned with looking good than being warm. I thought to myself "what a great day to Hawk the Nuggs!!!". I came up with the name"the Chilly Morning NuggHawks". Club owners had a hard time with such a long name so I shortened it to 'the NuggHawks".
Do you play live?
Dave Racadio:The goal of our band is to make noise, drink beer, and leave the crowd sated. We play every gig like we're playing for ten thousand. Playing live is our bread and butter. It's a way of life. A way looking at the crowd and saying, "Hey Buds, let's PARTY!!!'.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Steve Cook: The internet has changed the music industry for the better. Now if there is an artist you are interested in, you don't have to spend 10-20 bucks to find out you only like one song. It's a great way to promote new music and turn people onto your music. As far as what the RIAA has been doing, I think it's a little extreme. Everyone downloads now, not just music, but movies, tv shows etc... It's just getting out of hand when your taking 12 year olds to court because they downloaded the Britney Spears song they like, when it's played on the radio 100 times a day anyway. This is nothing new, when I was a teenager we traded tapes that we copied for each other. The only difference now is they have a way to watch and track us, and thats just SCARY! Maybe they could just put a limit on it, let poeple trade up to a certain number of mp3's. The record industry claims to be losing money. Well, i'm tired of turning on MTV or VH1 and seeing these filthy rich people in the industry with Playstation 2's in their new super SUV mega-machines. Do I feel sympathy for the industry? NO
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Dave Racadio:Being a bar band is like living a dream. We get to experience Rock-n Roll up close and personally. Though I have no aspirations beyond playing in bigger clubs, as a musician I would welcome the opportunity to entertain on a professional level.
Band History:
Dave Racadio:The NuggHawks started out playing all originals in the park, at the lake or in my living room. There was NO audience for our music, because we had no following. We started learning sets and playing clubs and built a following from scratch. From there we received some radio play in Texas, along with a network of fans that followed us from gig to gig. Sadly, the original bass player had a personality disorder that broke the band apart. I moved to the pacific northwest thinking that the NuggHawks were just a fond memory. But something moving that deeply never truly sleeps. I was asked to play a set at a local music fest. and said yes. I then had to find a band. A friend of mine from work, Steve Cook, offered to play bass, With his Rock-n-Roll pedigree I blew him off. I didn't think he was serious. Turns out he was, and IS!!!! We found a drummer, who has since moved away, and the NuggHawks were RESURRECTED!!!!
Your influences?
Dave Racadio:First and foremost, the Beatles inspired me from the time I could walk. As I grew my tastes turned to a harder style. Zeppelin, VanHalen, Ozzy. And believe it or not, the Partridge Family was a source of great inspiration.

Steve Cook: I first wanted to play guitar after watching the movie Crossroads with Steve Vai and the Karate Kid going up against the devil. Bands that have been a big inspiration - Black Sabbath, Stuck Mojo, Animal Bag, Gardy Loo, Ace Frehley and The Mentors.
Favorite spot?
Dave Racadio:That place right behind the guitar

Steve Cook:The "G" spot.
Equipment used:
Dave Racadio:Fender, Hamer and Boss

Steve Cook:Aria Pro II Bass, any bass amp someone will let me use since i'm such a bum. Schecter Vampira Guitar with Seymour Duncan Pickups.
Anything else...?
Dave Racadio:Yeah..... if you see a NuggHawk on the street SHOW HIM SOME LOVE!!!!!!!
