The Anxieties play quirky, snotty, 3-chord punk songs inspired by the likes of the Buzzcocks, Boys, and Dickies. Love 'em or hate 'em vocals a la Richard Hell. Garage tones and energy, but hooks galore.
Why this name?
Because all good band names should be the plural of a word and start with "the". Technically our name is not "Anxieties", but rather "The Anxieties". Unfortuantely we didn't want to get filed in the "T's" so there you go. Bands with stupid names like New Found Glory and A Simple Plan can go to hell.
Do you play live?
Not nearly often enough. Playing live rules. Why the f*** would you want to be in a band and not play shows?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Hopefully it will continue to level the playing field between DIY artists and the majors. The RIAA can go straight to f***ing hell.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not likely. But; y'know, if you're from a major label and you wanna ask us, go ahead I guess...
Your influences?
Boys, Buzzcocks, Dickies, Weirdos, TSOL, DOA, Ramones, Damned, Pointed Sticks, Undertones, Simpletones.
Favorite spot?
The old John Henry's club here in Eugene, OR. The new place is alright, but the old one was magic.
Anything else...?
Here's a review from Mark Hughson at Now Wave:

The Anxieties must have something up their sleeve, because this “demo” doesn’t sound “demo-ish” at all. I mean, it’s no Nigel Godrich project, but what punk band wants to be?

I’ve yet to be disappointed by the state of Oregon. Coming out of Eugene, this four piece slams out fast, catchy, just-this-side-of-snotty punk ’n’ roll. The frenzied guitar work of Tristan Tower is matched by Scott Von Rocket’s spazz-riddled vocals. “Black Hole (In The Center Of My Brain)” and “What’s He Got (That I Ain’t Got?)” are speedy, ripped-up punk rock tunes that blow most other groups on this playing field out of the arena. I mean, what the hell? Recently I listened to a handful of semi-widely released, label supported 7” records that were crap compared to these two songs. And this is just their preliminary round? Sheesh.

Right after the one-two opening punch, the band seems to fall into Automatics-mode (that being a reference to the band, not having anything to do with the band performing songs automatically), which succeeds greatly on “She Gets Me Drunk” but fails on “You’re Creeping Me Out”. “Do The Suicide” provides the goods once again, but it also begs the question “Do we really need a 21st Golden Great?”

The disc ends with respectable covers of the Adverts and the Boys, giving any prospective fans a little more background on where the Anxieties are coming from. A fine disc as is – take the four awesome tracks, and you’d have a killer EP....but the potential for even more makes me giddy.
