Sit Down Sarah is a new ska band out of Oshkosh, Wisconsin with ska/punk influences. Give these guys a listen!
Why this name?
This is probably the most frequently asked question we get, the name is actualy from a girl that was in Bryan and my shop class. We were trying to think of a name one day and the teacher goes "sit down Sarah" and for some very strange reason we desided to use that.
Do you play live?
We'll play anywhere, no big tours or anything yet we're very new.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think MP3's have changed the industry in good and bad ways, I guess it depends on how big your band is. If your big and money hungry then you probably want people to buy your CD's instead, but we think just as long as we're getting our name out, download away.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course getting big would be amazing.
Band History:
We started last September, at first it was Bryan, Alex, and me just jammin out till we found Mark and Rhys (his name is actualy said Reese, yes he knows It's weird) and they became known as the Sit Down Sarah Horn Section. Mark trumpet, Rhys Sax.
Your influences?
Holy crap, hands down Less Than Jake. They are a major influence on us, they are just the coolest dudes. Catch 22, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, RX Bandits and ska bands like that have also been big influences on us.
Favorite spot?
Can't speak for the rest of us, but I'd have to say tropical places.
Equipment used:
Bryan uses a Gibson SG.
Andrew (being me) uses a Rouge bass currently, but I'm getting a Music Man Stingray soon.
Alex uses Tama drums and Zildjian cymbals.
Mark uses a Getzen trumpet.
Rhys uses a Mirage sax.
Anything else...?
Nothin else exept come see a show somtime! Keep an eye out on the Oshkosh punk scene, we'll be out there.
