Whattup peoples?
My name is Doctor J (The Mic Medic).
Right now my beloved Hip Hop game has became a little stagnant, and I hope that I can just give off a new perspective for fans out there. To me writing/lyrics are the most important factor of music, so I'm basically here to at least touch one individual out there. If one person can relate to my music, then I have done my job. I also double up my duties and produce (or chopped up) alot of the beats I rhyme on, as well as hand-draw alot of my promotional material. The weirdest fact about me is - that Civil Engineering is my major in College, so Hip Hop is my hobby in which I hope can take off, ya know.

Why this name?
First off I am a basketball fanatic...and Dr. J (Julius Erving) was my Michael Jordan when I was a kid. Aside from that I am also known as the Mic Medic, cause of perfectionist traits, humbleness, and the way I'm always producing stuff. We used to joke on how I would "medic" the "mic" for people I'm working with!
Do you play live?
Yes...I also produce alot of my beats using a combination of a Casio keyboard, sampling, and Cool Edit Pro. I rep down here in South Florida. The latest event I took part in was FAU's Talent Showcase.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has done wonders for the undergroun hip hop world. I'm sure if I was signed and pushing an album I'd be more against it, but I personally enjoy the ease of sharing and trading MP3s. It definitely has allowed more people to hear my own original music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definitely, if the situation was right, and I didn't have to change...I could see me signing a contract.
Band History:
Been rhyming since like 15 years old, learned quickly...moved to graffiti & production by about 18 years old. Currently, I'm recording alot, and I'm out to make history.
Your influences?
I was brought into hip hop listening to: Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Public Enemy, 2Pac & the earlier Wu-Tang material. I like that grittier raw sound, and enjoy moody production. I like my songs to actually make people FEEL things, ya know. Presently, I really like what Eminem, Nas, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, & 50 Cent are doing for the game.
Favorite spot?
Cancun, Mexico
Equipment used:
Casio Studio Suite Keyboard, MPC 2000, Magix, & Cool Edit Pro.
Anything else...?
I'm the current President of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., Beta Xi Chapter at Florida Atlantic University. Having my girlfriend, family, and friends around me and involved is ideal in everything I do.
