I am a singer/songwriter/music publisher.
First and foremost a songwriter/music publisher. My main genre I write in is rnb/jazz aka Neo-soul, I also write rnb/pop, uptempo dance songs, and a little bit of rnb/hip hop. I am CEO of my own music publisher company "Sultry Ware Music" signed with BMI Performance Rights Organization.

Why this name?
I just combined rnb & mistress and came up with "RNBMISTRESS"
Here's a lil joke I made up: I'm married to "RnB" but I do a lil "Pop" on the side.

Do you play live?
No. But I have performed live with a full piece band.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet has caused a MAJOR change in the music industry. Independent, Unsigned Artists, bands, vocalist, even Independent music publishers are getting opportunities & exposure world-wide.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm not a recording artist, but I would like to sign a co-venture deal, and a foreign deal overseas, that is in the making.

I consider myself a sultry singer/songwriter, lacing RnB with a mixture of smooth Jazz, Neo-Soul, Soul, contemporary pop, and rnb/hip hop that are full of senuality, love and heartbreak. I have a vivid of an imagination that helps me get my message across to the listener by intoxicating their minds taking them on a natural high on a journey of imagination.
I started writing songs at the tender age of 8 years old. I also helped formed my first singing group in the mid-60s when I was just 13 years old. We were known as the Friendship Five. A name combined from Gladys Knight & The Pips song "Friendship train" & from the "The Jackson Five."
We participated in all sorts of talent shows, spear headed by Duke Baldwin, with Ken "Spiderman" Web, Vaughn Harper of (WBLS FM radio station in NY), and other radio personalities as judges. We did showcases , one particular with Duke
baldwin and benefit shows alongside the likes of Joe Bataan Band, Skky, Bliss just to name a few.
We also did private shows for the board of education officials, a Christmas show, a Thanksgiving show where we performanced alongside a Brooklyn band & male singing group called The Claim Jumppers.
The Friendship Five went through some changes 2 members were replaced later. We changed our name to Misty. Later on the group broke up completely and I became a solo artist. I did a few talent shows, landed a contract with an Independent Record Label name Gensis. But my real love was for songwriting, which I presued.
I've gotten good reviews about my creative writing and singing abilities which I thank God for giving me the talent to do both. Along the way there were singers and songwriters who helped shaped & molded me into the songwriter I am today.
Vocal ly I've been influenced by Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills. Musical wise James Brown, The Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Prince, R. Kelly, Angela Windbush. Songwriters Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Babyface & LA Reid, Elton John, R. Kelly, Prince, Angela Winbush. I also was inspired by a lot of the pop bands and artists of the 60s. Later on down the line I started listening to a lot of artists who were into jazz such as Nancy Wilson, Billy Holliday, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita Baker, Sade, George Benson.
Beside rnb/jazz aka neo-soul being my first love, I like all other types of music; Jazz, pop, Hip-Hop, rock, dance/house, classical, childrens songs, calypso, reggae, and instrumental version songs.
I started my own music publishing company called Sultry Ware Music, I am a BMI member. Member of AIMP (Association Of Independent Music Publishers). Use to be a member of The Songwriters Hall Of Fame, And The Songwriters Guild. My musical paths came across a music producer name Clarence Ferguson, Jr. My lyrical/melody contents collided with his musical engenius and we've been creating musical magic for over 3 1/2 years.
I've accomplished and had the opportunity to introduce some of my songs to the A&R of MBK Entertainment (Alicia Keys), and to get some of my songs viewed with a few Independent artist. I will be working with a few artists & music producers. I'm networking and build up some good relationship with a few well known industry people.
Most people wont believe this, but I am a close relative of Jackie Wilson, and my oldest son is cousin to Big Daddy Kane. Wu-Tangs "Rza & ODB (old dirty bastard) and John Gibbon (Wu's management) niece and nephew are related to me on my brothers side. There also maybe a kin-relation side with Leon Ware producer of "I want you" album by Marvin Gaye, but I'm still looking into that one.
I have crossed paths with many well known artists, such as Jodeci, TLC, Lisa Fisher, Busta Rhymes, Brian McKnight, Teddy Riley, Aaliyah, Robert Bell from Kool & The Gang, Donell Jones, Eddie F, Father MC, Blahsay Blah, Wendy Williams, Vaughn Harper, Milera, Heavy D, just to name a few.
I am now helping my son/The Fantom create some of his magic, he's a rap artist who'd rather stay behind the scenes, and also my newphew Nate P who is a young innovator, entrepreneuer.
I now have the interest of a Indepedent Record label in Florida, who wants to sign me on as an in-house writer for their artists. I may have the opportunity of writing for a well-known artist. I'll keep you updated on things as they progress.
