We wanted something that would capture the purpose of our music. We are out to set the bar higher for the next generation of Rock Bands.

We love playing the bar and theatre scene, we play at all venues in the Metro Detroit area. This summer will be our busiest yet as we are looking to play at all major Universities in Michigan and some shows in Windsor, Ontario. Our first show of the year on Feb 21st at Bonzai Bobs in Lake Orion is our CD release party, it will be a very special show for all of us.

Its hard not to have mixed feelings about it, any one who loves music can appreciate the ease and quickness of downloading songs, it gives a nice push to the unknown bands who need to get their music out, however the majority of recording artists are suffering in sales and that means less money for the record companies to give out contracts to unsigned bands. Like most things, only time will tell if the internet and MP3s will be, in the end, good for the music industry.

Without a doubt, it is undeniably the best way to get your music heard by the most people. Its the ultimate goal for any band or musician, if the fans like it then you'll always have a place to play and another song to write.

New Standard formed in the summer of 2002. All members are from Troy, MI and have grown a deep passion to write and play music. Each member is very musical and can play 2 or more instruments fluently.

Our influences range from Nickelback, Metallica and Fuel, all the way to John Mayer, DMB, and the originals like Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn
