It's just me and the serial numbers around me.
Why this name?
First syllable of my last name, pronounced "crew", as opposed to "craow". Must be a french thing.
Do you play live?
Occasional coffee shop laptop gig in Brooklyn or Remote Lounge in NYC.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The music industry needs this kick in the ass and in my opinion, it's the indies who will benefit from all of this in the long run. Too many people are sick of the standard radio formula, keeping so many great unsigned (or lesser known) acts in the shadow of it's corporate might. Let this mp3 generation decide for itself what to listen to, hopefully opening their minds to new genres and artists, resulting in a truer appreciation of music and the people who create it. I would like to think that this may actually encourage album sales.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely, I also strongly advocate licensing.
Murcof, AIR, Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Massive Attack, Portishead, Goldfrapp, Boards of Canada, John Barry, Ennio Morricone.
G4 Powerbook, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reason, Korg MS2000, Fender Jazz bass, Fender Stratocaster.
Boxers. In case you're wondering.
