In a small town such a Wilson, NC no one would expect a sleeping giant to be awaken. Recently Scarlet Undercover has started a quest to showcase and play all they have to offer to the rest of the world. So watch out for this different, yet innovating power rock band that came outta nowhere.
Why this name?
We got it from the game Clue. There is a mrs. scarlet and she is a detective...so shes undercover on the job.
Do you play live?
Yes we play live and we love it. We have played local area clubs such as the Brewery, Lucky's, and Ziggy's to name a few venues. We had a great show in Tennessee once where we expected the crowd to be decent....but the kids there were amazing. They just went off in every way possible.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes music way more accessible. Some people think thats a bad thing. Such as illegal usage of music. In our situation its no problem at all. It makes our music way more accessible and easy to hear. In my opinion its a great source of promotion if not the best.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We will go as far as our music is willing to take us. If that place may be the stage in a small club then swell. If its on stage in an ampitheatre then thats cool too. Why limit how far you can go by refusing to sign major label deals. Some may say thats selling out. Thats not selling out. Selling out is when you change what you do for the sake of higher authorities. I personally find that my favorite bands are found on sublabels but its not because of the fact they are on a smaller label. Its because the music they play doesnt appeal as much to the masses and therefore doesnt catch the attention of major labels. So to sum it up...Yes I would if the oppurtunity were handed to me but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if I could simply make a living playing music.
Band History:
Different...Everyone is always looking for something different. Well, different yet innovating has arrived in style. When you take the sick guitar licks and leads of 80's hairmetal, the powerful and off-the-wall rhythms of drums and bass, and then top it all off with emotional melodic lyrics, you get what we have grown to call "Scarlet Undercover." Scarlet Undercover is a band from Wilson, North Carolina that hits up the east coast playing every ounce of their weekends in any clubs, parties, or venues possible. Scarlet Undercover was formed when the melodic punk/rock band Better Yet lost their lead guitar player. The rest of the the guys decided to keep pursuing their musical dreams but wanted to add something so different that it would take their fans and the rest of the world by surprise. The guys then stumbled upon guitarist Brian Dawson. Dawson honestly wasn't fond of the music of Better Yet, but he decided to give it a shot with hopes of something great. After their first day together the band, including Dawson, was shocked at what they had become. After extensive writing and practicing the band was off to play every oppurtunity they came across trying to spread their word. The band has recently thrown a demo together in hopes of great things. Until then this rock band won't stop until every person on the face of this planet knows the name we have grown to call "Scarlet Undercover."
