From a local saying 'get to bed before the 10 o' clock horses get ya'

The 10 o' clock horses was the nick name for the "gong men" the people who use to empty the privies, outdoor toilets before there were sewages. The 10 o' clock horses would come after 10pm believed to be because of the stench. It was also known that the gong men would use the nitrate out of their collection to make gunpowder! mmmmmmmmmmm........ Anyway the concept behind the name was the boggie man, as parents use to say to their children, "get to bed before the 10 o'clock horses get ya"
