The choosing of my band name took some thought as I didn't just want to come up with a name that would fall into a generic catergory to be easily forgotten. Back when I was a DJ in the 80's, many knew me as Scratch Master "D". Eventually, my friends began referring to me as either "Scratch" or "D". As as the years past and I moved on from DJing to music production, I decided to come up with something new and original. After some thought, I came up with "Deleswa" which is my actual name abbreviated.

I've played the Bass Guitar live since 1992 when I joined a church over in Korea. Since then I have been the Bass player for five different churches, played in few concerts and been involved a number of music workshops.

It is a new era in the music industry today. In the old days, you had to go to a studio to record, spending countless hours/money to get the perfect takes for the music project. Today, many artist are recording in their house, garage and even in a hotel room with the technology of DAW (Digital Audio Workstations). In the old days, you needed a contract with a major label to get your music heard, today you only need to sign up to music website online, who in turn will push your productions to all the major online distrubutors. Back in the day...you performed at concerts, made record sales and hoped to break even or if your lucky..make it big and not become a one hit wonder..with money made but no legacy. Now days...you log onto your sites, upload your tracks, monitor your every sale and go to Paypal to see the fruit of your labor. So...has the internet changed the world of music....artists now have options and the options are good..

There was a time when I was really focused on getting signed by a major label as an in-house producer/beatmaker for artists, but as for now my main goal is to simply produce music and lots of it. I have also thought of eventually starting my own label but haven't push the envelope on that at this time. Don't get me wrong, getting signed as an in-house producer/beatmaker is still considered, but no longer my focus or drive for what I do. Another advantage to being an indie type artist worth mentioning is the range of flexibility, control, overall managment and freedom to create/market music exactly the way you want. You can't put a price tag on that.

My influence comes from the diversity of music I grew up listening to and also from the exposure to Asian, European and Middle Eastern culture. My Drums/Beats are similar to that of "Timbaland" and my sound varies from Melodic to Orchestral, Abstract to occasionally Ethnic and primarily Multi-Genre Driven. I find it difficult to box my sound into one genre since there isn't any dominant one in my style. The best way to define my music is that it is the Crossroad of Hip Hop, Electronic, R&B, Jazz, Pop & Soul.
