The lead singer wears t-shirts meant for girls under the age of 13. On the cover of the debut album he's wearing a red feather boa. This is not what most people would expect from a gritty, guitar-driven power pop band. The music is saturated with sing-a-long melodies and unforgettable hooks.
Why this name?
The band is named after a city in Scotland. Cash is from just south of there. He's from a town called Edinburgh. As a kid he had to take trips to his grandfathers house in Aberdeen. He says they were the best times. He wanted the band to share the connection.
Do you play live?
We play live as much as possable. We're based out of Kansas City, Mo. Mostly we're forced to tour regionally in the midwest. Some of the band members haven't given up their jobs yet.
Band History:
The band was founded in late 1994 by lead singer Cash. In 1997 this foursome quickly made a name for themselves in KC's music scene with their high-energy live performances and some 500 cassette singles distributed at those shows. Shortly thereafter, the CD ep "Noose" would garner airplay on commercial and college radio and sell out of its original pressing of 500 copies. September 1999 marked the release of their first full length "See How You Are" on the Prairie Village, KS indie Saviour Records.

The band was elected to appear on "Just what this world needs … a tribute to Material Issue", a tribute to Chicago pop rockers Material Issue, scheduled for release April 22nd of 2000 on Veronica Records of Chicago. Contributing the song "A Very Good Thing", Aberdeen joined acts Local H, Triple Fast Action, and other nationally-knowns in their homage to the late Jim Ellison.

Aberdeen also composed and recorded the theme song for a popular local specialty radio program "Stan and Joel in The Living Room". The songs "We are the World"-styled vocal appearances of some 20 local music celebrities made both them and the theme a hit.

Aberdeen has supported a variety of major label recording artists including The Samples (an odd match). Columbia's Dovetail Joint, RCA's The Mysteries of Life, Mammoth/Atlantic's Kill Creek, Sony 550's Ultimate Fakebook and Interscope's Lovenut.
Your influences?
Aberdeen's four members, Cash, Mark, Gregf and Steve have at one time or another claimed influences as varied as Cheep Trick and Duran Duran.
