Why this name?
I chose the name Savoire Femme, because women have a tough way to go in this industry, which is generally a male dominated field. I produce and write all my material, and Savoire Femme ( which means Savvy Female)makes a great statement in the effort to empower more women in the music industry.
Do you play live?
I have played live before, mostly in California. I have a little stage fright but, yes I like performing live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The invention of the MP3, has literally opened doors for musicians who virtually had no outlet to the masses. Record Companies are frightened that free downloadable music will cut into their profits, but thats not true. What has cut into their profits is the extremely high prices they charge for CD's. Consumers are looking for cheaper, viable entertainment, entertainment they can afford without having to take a loan out on their home.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Possibly, it depends on the label and of course the structure and content of the deal they offer. Most importantly the label has to be able to vigorously market their products.
Your influences?
I love the early 80's fusion sounds of Jean Luc Ponty, his violin could simply talk. I am a huge fan of Ahmad Jamal, Gil Scott Heron, Miles Davis, Roy Ayers, M'shell Ndege Ocello, and all the Funk bands from the late 70's to early 80's.
